There are places in this world that change you quietly.
The Tyburn Convent in Largs is one of those places.
I had the grace of spending time there, sharing meals, conversations, and moments of silence with the sisters who call it home. They live a life of devotion, simplicity, and faith that is deeply moving to witness.
But behind that peace, there is a reality they are facing.
Their convent, the very place that shelters their lives of prayer and service, is in urgent need of repair. The roof is leaking, and the damage it is causing continues to grow. In order to restore and protect their home, they need to raise £90,000.
This is not just a building.
It is their sanctuary.
During my time with them, I was going through my own spiritual discernment. I lived among them, observed their way of life, and felt something I cannot fully put into words. Their presence, their devotion, their strength, it stayed with me.
From that experience, this painting was born.
About the Painting: The Purest Love
This piece is not just something I painted. It is something I lived.
At the very center is the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Not just as a symbol, but as truth. A heart that burns, that bleeds, and that loves without condition. A love that chose suffering for all of us.
Beneath it rests the Word. The Holy Bible is open to 1 Corinthians 13 and John 3:16, the very foundation of what love truly is. From it rises a green smoke, a sign of eternal life, and from within it emerge the pierced hands of Jesus.
His hands are not one color. They are all colors.
Because He gave Himself for all of humanity.
And in that moment, He reaches toward His own Sacred Heart, embracing the very love that caused His suffering, and yet never ceased.
Above Him, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, the white dove, we are reminded of the transformation that made Him become the Holy Eucharist, placed at the highest point. Our Jesus, truly present.
Surrounding this moment, there is joy.
The angels play music in celebration. These are not distant figures. They are a reflection of the Benedictine nuns I lived with during that time. I shared their days, their silence, and their devotion. They became part of this piece.
At the base, there are 23 roses, representing Our Blessed Mother Mary and Psalm 23, a quiet reminder that even in hardship, we are guided and never alone.
The seven candles represent the seven Spirits of God, a presence that surrounds and sustains what is divine.
This painting was created for them.
Originally, it was intended to be auctioned to help them raise funds. They later chose to keep it, but their need has not gone away.
They still need help.
If you feel moved, I invite you to support them in any way you can. Whether through a donation or simply by sharing their cause, every gesture matters.

Sometimes, helping begins with awareness.
And sometimes, it becomes something more.
Thank you for taking a moment to read and for holding them in your thoughts.
