Facing the Light

Updated: Apr 29

Pausing to breathe in the quiet beauty of the moment.
Pausing to breathe in the quiet beauty of the moment.

There is something I have been quietly observing for a long time.

Not loudly.

Not with anger.

But with a kind of sadness that settles deep in the chest.

The world feels different.

People feel different.

Somewhere along the way, we began turning away from the light.

Not all at once.

Not in a dramatic fall.

But slowly, gently, almost unnoticed.

In the way we speak to one another.

In the way we rush past what matters.

In the way we choose noise over silence, distraction over presence, and comfort over truth.

It is as if we have forgotten how to be still.

Like sunflowers that no longer turn toward the sun, but instead face away from it,

convinced the darkness is safer.

And yet, even now, there are some who feel it.

A quiet pull.

A resistance within.

A knowing that something is not right.

Not with the world, but with the direction we are heading.

Because the light is still there.

It has never left.

But it does require something of us.

It asks us to pause.

To feel.

To reflect.

To choose differently.

And that is not easy in a world that rewards the opposite.

Still, there are those of us who try.

Those who feel the weight of being pulled back, yet keep moving forward anyway.

Those who choose connection over escape.

Depth over surface.

Meaning over noise.

Not perfectly.

But intentionally.

Perhaps that is where change begins.

Not in the world as a whole…

But in the quiet decisions of individuals who refuse to turn away.

Who, even when surrounded by darkness, continue to face the light.

And maybe, just maybe,

that is enough to guide others back too.

This is where my work begins...
